DIY lip scrub

Issues with lipstick going on smoothly? Chapped lips that never seem lip locking ready? There’s hope ladies…My gift  to you..Simple, natural DIY lip scrub à la Brittany Michele.

Your skin is THE largest organ and needs to be cleansed of dead skin. Its functions of expelling toxins, ample breathing and circulation will be hightend with regualr exfoliation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Honey (1tbsp)
  • Brown Sugar(1tbsp)
  • Olive Oil
Honey is a natural antioxidant . It helps to keep the skin feeling soft by assisting in the skins’s ability to rejuvenate and refresh delpeted skin. Honey is able to help keep skin hydrated and provents drying, and has been used  as an ancient beauty staple with “honey and milk” to keep skin youthful and smooth. (Even Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra, swore by this beauty secret and  it has been used in Chinese medicine since the 6th century BC to substance both the body and soul!)
Brown Sugar is chalk full of Vitamin B and assists in exfoliating your skin without drying it out. Its texture is course enough to exfoliate your skin but isnt abrasive enough to irritate your skin. Its a natural, no preservative ingredient to insure no harm to your skin.
Mix the Honey and Brown sugar together, Apply the paste textured mixture to your lips and leave on for a few minutes. (Try not to lick your lips..kinda tempting!) and then start GENTLY  “buffing” your lips with the mixture in circular motions. The brown sugar is now exfoliating the dead skin off your lips- do this until all the skin is buffed off. Immediatly apply Olive Oil to your lips as your all natural lip moitsurizer. (This secret was also used by Cleopatra!)
With my addiction to pinker than pink glossy lips, I use this scrub at least 2x a week. It only takes a few minutes and your lips feel instantly smoother, fuller and more hydrated!
With these lips, more x’s than o’s,
xoxo

Beauty is..

Beauty:

noun, plural -ties.

– I decided I wanted to start my first official beauty blog off on a different note. Im sitting here, at the computer…trying to think of a great ice breaker..something whitty, something fun, something mildly amusing..something I would enjoy reading. Obviously nothing sensational came to mind, and telling jokes isnt my strong point…because all I could think of, the only thing I could wrap my brain around is…“WHAT IS BEAUTY?”  Is “beauty” the right shade lip gloss? Perfectly curled hair? Designer handbags? Is” beauty” sunsets? Ancient paintings by Masters? Compositions and concertos by classical composers? Maybe “beauty” is the love between a new mother and her child? The innocence of a first love? The wisdom in a grandparents eye? What is YOUR definition of BEAUTY?!
For me, beauty is…
  • The colors dried on my palate after a night of painting. The intermixing of colors in the height of artistic expression are sometimes more appealing, more beautiful to my eye then what was actually produced on my canvas.
  • The sound of a baby laughing. There is nothing more sweet, nothing more precious than a true laugh from a beautiful little one. The beauty of innocence.
  • The waves crashing on a silent beach. The world is so big, and has so much to offer..my problems and challenges seem so small next to the beauty of Mother Earth.
  • The sound of my church throughout Worship. The voices all singing together, loud and united. Sometimes I find myself being silenced, with my eyes closed, just to embrace the power…the beauty of the Lord.
  • Looking in the mirror and being proud of what I see. Not pride in my eye liner, my skin tone or my hair color…not my outfit selection, my fake eye lashes or high heels..being proud of who I am beyond all that. The confidence in the person I have become, and the pride I have in dropping my insecurities and telling myself I am beautiful. The BEAUTY in my life, in myself and in and my spirit, I’ve found is to be the most beautiful of them all.

I think beauty is all around us, and beauty can be found in EVERYTHING. My passion for my quest for capturing “beauty” is never ending! I’ll end my first blog with this.

What is beauty to YOU?
