With the smiles and sunshine this first week has shown, I’m convinced this year is going to be an AMAZING one. 🙂 Lets start this off right- healthy, happy & FABULOUS! Ive been working hard doing research to share with you some great healthy must haves to ensure this year your hair & skin has never looked better…from the inside out!
A balanced diet is common sense for a healthy bod, but did you ever consider what you put in your body affects the health of your skin and hair? Fad diets, fast food binges and missing meals may seem sensible at the time..but an overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish and low-fat dairy will help keep your figure, energy level, skin and hair tip top. Why follow these guidelines? ..Because YOU DESERVE IT!
Top Ten Foods you will be incorporating in your diet for 2012
1. Dark Green Vegetables
An amazing source of Vitamin A and C which assist in producing SEBUM. Remember our favorite “gift” to give our hair? This is the gift that keeps on giving!
2. Fatty Fish like Salmon
Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, b 12 & iron, lacking this can result in a dry scalp and dull looking hair. These components aid in keeping your scalp healthy! Not a fish person? Get cozy with some flaxseed, you’ll need it. 🙂
remember our review of Biotin and how essential it is for our hair and skin health? Well, here’s a great source of it to add to your diet! Beans like lentils and kidney beans are chalk full of iron, zinc, and biotin proteins!
Oh, eggs…you wonder food, you! Not only can we apply egg topically (egg mask!) but incorporating more eggs into your diet is THE best source of protein you can find! It also is another great source of Biotin & vitamin B-12!
Is there a more simple snack then packing some nuts in a to go bag? These amazing yummy treats are a great source of protein, selenium (a mineral for your hair) and most importantly for our hairs health…zinc. Lacking zinc does lead to hair shedding…eee! Get some walnut, cashew and almonds immediately! 🙂
As most of us know, poultry is a great source of protein that your body can easily benefit from! These proteins offered from chicken and turkey will keep your hair, scalp and color fresh and strong!
Oysters are loaded with Zinc, which your hair LOVES! Dont feel the love for Oysters? Beef offers great zinc as well. 😉
8. Whole Grains
Whole grains are a great source of energy and keeping your tummy full, as well as zinc, vitamin B and iron! While shopping the bread and cereal isle, look for whole wheat!
We’ve always heard carrots keep your eye sight sharp, which is a result of its high amounts of Vitamin A..but that amazing vitamin also benefits your scalp! Healthy hair=healthy scalp. A yummy, easy snack!
Last but not least…dairy. This one is an obvious source of calcium which is needed for healthy bones, skin & hair! Make sure youre getting in your milk, yogurt and cheese products! (in moderation, and if youre watching your waistline..lowfat ❤ )
